Byggnaden ritades som vinnande förslag i en arkitekttävling 1948. Arkitekt var Knut Knutsen, en central gestalt inom nordisk byggnadskonst vid mitten av seklet. Ambassaden i Stockholm anses vara hans mest betydande verk. På uppdrag av Statsbygg har vi deltagit i flera spännande renoveringar och varsamma moderniseringar av byggnaden. Det har givit oss intressanta inblickar i Knutsens tankar om demokratisk arkitektur och en fördjupad förståelse för vad hållbar arkitektur verkligen handlar om. Byggnaden är idag väl bevarad såväl exteriört som interiört. Vissa förändringar har gjorts, men rumsupplevelsen är i stort intakt, särskilt i representationsrummen. Många originaldetaljer, ytskikt och möbler finns även bevarade runt om i byggnaden. Knutsens ställning som nyskapare, fritänkare och central gestalt inom nordisk arkitektur bidrar till byggnadens status som kulturarv. Den har som enskilt verk stort konstnärligt, arkitektoniskt och historiskt värde. Huset används än idag för samma ändamål som det ritades för och fungerar bra. Används fortfarande för samma stora bredd av verksamheter som den ursprungligen planerats för: folkbildning, kultur, samhällsdebatt och nöjesliv. På 1960-talet drevs den legendariska jazzklubben Gyllene Cirkeln här. Vi har deltagit i diverse ombyggnader och restaureringar i olika delar av byggnaden. Byggnaden är grönklassad av Stockholms stadsmuseum. Draken Arkitektur har på uppdrag av fastighetsägaren arbetat med utredningar och ombyggnadsprojekt i olika delar av huset. En viktig uppgift har varit att för brukarna förklara de historiska och arkitektoniska värdena. ABF har ett starkt behov av att förnya sig och nå ut till en större publik. Att förena dessa önskemål med en varsam attityd till byggnaden är en svår men spännande utmaning. Vi har arbetat tillsammans med brukare, fastighetsägaren och olika konsulter. ABF-huset med många fina kvaliteter från 50-talet, inrymmer publika lokaler för kultur, &nbsp;&nbsp; utbildning och kursverksamhet. Ett våningsplan med kontorslokaler byggdes om för ytterligare utbildningslokaler. Den nuvarande huvudbyggnaden uppfördes på 1860-talet och är statligt byggnadsminne. Den förvaltas av Statens fastighetsverk och vi har fått uppdraget som husarkitekter. Vår roll är att bistå förvaltarna så att nödvändigt underhåll, reparationer och oundvikliga förändringar genomförs på bästa sätt, utan att de kulturhistoriska värdena äventyras. Kampanil Silverdals griftegårdUppdrag åt Sollentuna församling 2024 Silverdals griftegård anlades 1914 som garnisonskyrkogård. 1923 uppfördes ett garnisonskapell men under 1950-talet upphörde begravningar i militär regi helt. Under 1960-talet uppfördes en ny klockstapel och ett nytt kapell, Silverdalskapellet. Båda är ritade av dåvarande stadsbyggnadschefen för Sollentuna kommun L. Knape som också utformade delar av gravkvarter. Klockstapeln ritades 1962. I ursprungliga handlingar är den pyramidformad med en bärande konstruktion av kvadratiska stolpar av 15 x 15 cm timmer med tvär- och krysstag. Toppen är kopparplåtsklädd med dubbelfalsade kanter och avslutas med en tornspira. Mellanskiktet som utgör klockhuset har snedställda planhyvlade furulameller och kjolen är klädd med sågad furu-råspont som består av två markerade spårprofiler på varje bräda. Den var troligen bruntjärad eller brunpigmenterad med träskyddsmedel. Dörren som är infälld i volymen och väderskyddad har troligen kvar sin ursprungliga kulör och ytskiktsbehandling. Klockstapeln är placerad i en skogsglänta intill kyrkogårdsstigarna och refererar både till mindre byggnadsverk i skogen och klassiska klockstaplar med snedställda volymbildande sidor. Klockstapeln i Silverdals griftegård har sedan den byggdes 1962 varit långvarigt fuktexponerad. Uteblivna vård- och underhållsinsatser och utsatt placering i en skogsglänta har inneburit fukt- och rötskador på trädetaljer, samt påväxt på fasadpanel och klockhusets lamellsektioner. Att endast ersätta svårt skadade paneler och använda rengöringstekniker för påväxt har övervägts. En sammanvägd bedömning har emellertid kommit fram till att ur arkitektonisk, antikvarisk och miljömässig synpunkt bör samtliga paneler och lameller ersättas med nya. Föreslagna renoveringsåtgärder bidrar till ett enhetligt utseende, bevarande av den ursprungliga intentionen med spårprofiler, samt möjliggör vård- och underhållsinsatser som tillvaratar byggnadens karaktär över tid. Sjölidens kapell&nbsp;Värmdö församling 2017 vann vi en inbjuden tävling för nytt kapell i Hemmesta, Värmdö församling. Istället för att riva det äldre kapellet från 1979 och ersätta det med en nybyggnad &nbsp;ritade vi en om- och tillbyggnad. Församlingen fick ett kapell med fantastisk akustik med Torsbyfjärden som fond istället för altartavla. Bygglov lämnades in 1912 &amp; 1913 och det troliga är att huset byggdes kort därefter. Utformningen var enkel med symmetriskt placerade fönster och få diskret artikulerade detaljer i fasaden mot gatan; Försänkta rundbågiga fält mot Heleneborgsgatan, portomfattning, trappande taklister och en slät list som markerade sockelvåningen.&nbsp; Intentionen med fasadrenoveringen är att skapa tidstypiska uttryck i detaljer som en gång utmärkte huset när det byggdes. Den grova spritputsen kommer ersättas med slätputs för att framhäva de försänkta rundbågiga fälten. Den gröna kulören kommer ersättas med en gröngrå mot gatan och gårdsfasaderna får en ljus kulör i beigegula toner. Samtliga fönster får nya smäckra snickeritillverkade 1+1 fönster med profiler från förlagorna i de ursprungliga trapphusfönsterna. Fisksätra kyrka har byggts om i etapper; först Källans Råd och stödcenter i nedre planet och sedan kyrkorummet. Detta byggdes om dels för att få ett mer flexibla lokaler och dels för att kunna dela kyrkorummet med den katolska församlingen. Svenska kyrkan, katolikerna och en av Fisksätras muslimska församlingar driver tillsammans det interreligiösa fredsprojektet Guds hus. Entrésidan mot gatan i norr gestaltades i ganska strikt funkisinspirerad stil för att ansluta naturligt till övriga hus längs gatan. Trädgårdsfasaderna gavs ett friare uttryck i samspel med eken, några tallar och den branta naturtomten. För att spara så mycket som möjligt av naturtomten placerades bilparkering i souterrängplan.
